Welcome to EthioTopUp. By creating an account or placing an order on this site you agree to the terms below. Please read them carefully — if you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. The service
EthioTopUp lets customers in the diaspora pay online for airtime, data and voice packages that are delivered to phone numbers on Ethiopian carriers (Ethio Telecom and Safaricom). Delivery is performed by our agents on your behalf using the carrier's own systems.
2. Your account
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you give us (recipient phone number, recipient name, your contact email) and for keeping your account password confidential. We will email you a confirmation when your payment is verified and again when delivery is complete.
3. Payments and refunds
You pay using the methods listed in the checkout (e.g. Zelle, ACH, bank transfer). We verify your transaction reference by hand before activating the top-up. If we cannot verify your payment we will mark the order as "payment rejected" and you can re-submit a corrected reference.
If a top-up cannot be delivered because of an issue on our side (wrong carrier, package no longer offered, etc.) we will refund you in full to the original payment method. If the issue is on the recipient's side (wrong phone number, line disconnected) we will work with you in good faith but cannot guarantee a refund once the top-up has reached the carrier.
4 Payment disputes and chargebacks
Payment authorization. By submitting a payment or funding an EthioTopUp wallet, you represent that you are authorized to use the selected payment method and authorize EthioTopUp and its payment processors to charge the amount displayed at checkout.
Wallet funding. Funds successfully added to an EthioTopUp wallet may be used to purchase eligible services available through the platform. A wallet funding transaction is considered fulfilled when the purchased wallet value has been successfully credited to the designated EthioTopUp account.
Completed digital services. Airtime, data, voice, SMS, and other telecommunications products are digital services that may be fulfilled immediately. Once a top-up or package has been successfully delivered to the phone number selected by the customer, it generally cannot be reversed or recovered from the recipient. Except where required by applicable law or payment-provider rules, completed and successfully delivered digital services are non-refundable.
Customer responsibility. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your EthioTopUp account and password and for reviewing transaction confirmations and account activity. If you believe your EthioTopUp account or payment method has been used without your authorization, contact us promptly so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, suspend further account activity.
Payment disputes and chargebacks. Customers should contact EthioTopUp promptly regarding payment or fulfillment problems. Filing a payment dispute does not automatically establish that a transaction was unauthorized or that a refund is owed. When responding to a dispute or chargeback, EthioTopUp may provide the payment processor or financial institution with relevant records, including transaction identifiers, account activity, wallet funding records, order information, delivery/fulfillment records, communications, and other information reasonably necessary to investigate the transaction, subject to applicable privacy requirements.
Abuse of disputes. Knowingly making a false claim that an authorized transaction was unauthorized, or repeatedly disputing payments after receiving and using the corresponding wallet value or successfully delivered services, may constitute a violation of these Terms. Where permitted by applicable law and payment-provider rules, EthioTopUp may suspend or terminate an account reasonably believed to be engaged in fraudulent or abusive payment activity.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use the service for fraudulent or illegal activity. Don't try to break, probe or overload our systems. We may suspend an account at any time if we believe it is being used in violation of these terms.
6. Limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, EthioTopUp is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
7. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
